Everything is about to be different

Over the next decade schools in England will go through the most significant transformation since the inception of the modern school system 150 years ago.​ 

 

The demands of the turn towards inclusion, coupled with wider technological, economic and social developments, will transform schools entirely: in purpose, structure,  and culture. The magnitude of this process will cause immense pressure for everyone: school leaders, teachers, families and students themselves. To navigate these changes will require vision, imagination, and resilience.​ 

 

However, a time of great change is also a moment of great opportunity.  We have been anticipating, and implementing,  these changes for years. We believe that the aim to develop truly inclusive schools is the best approach for everyone. 

 

 ​As we are all compelled to do things differently, we must now explore and experiment, and create schools that are ready for the forthcoming era; faithful to the instincts of professionals about what education really should be; fostering the flourishing of all young people in their full selves; restoring connection, community and hope.

Who We Are...

We have spent many years working across the UK education system to establish authentically inclusive provision. We passionately believe that such an approach is fundamental to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the current moment. We have established Beyond Measure to apply the knowledge and skills we have gained to effect wider impact.​

 

We draw on extensive leadership, teaching and research experience in alternative and mainstream settings, urban and rural; long track records of innovative and highly regarded practice; and exceptional academic and theoretical grounding. We understand the tensions and obstacles to inclusive practice within mainstream settings, and the systemic challenges and psychological pressures teachers experience.  We have a nuanced familiarity with the SEN landscape – assessment, commissioning, multi-agency partnerships – and a practical understanding of how to implement effective change within it.
